LOVELY, G-RATED WESTERN By thatrater I might have rounded up a little on the stars, but I give the book at least 4 1/2.I've read a few of this author's books now, and I would say this is one of the more straightforward ones. I said there is no violence in this book (in answer to Amazon's automatically-generated questions), but I would like to clarify that there is a kidnapping and people in the story are deliberately injured. I still consider this book as G-rated, though. To me, it's the equivalent of a 1950-s Western.As to how this story is narrated, there are sentences scattered through the book that take the reader briefly inside the head of one character or another, but not nearly enough to be confusing to the reader, besides which I believe all those sentences are italisized. The rest is 3rd-person and, as I mentioned before, pretty straightforward.I noticed that other reviewers remarked briefly on the religious overtones of the book. Sometimes extensive prayers and the way some of the characters expound on their religious beliefs kind of detract from the story to me. However, I don't object to seeing Biblical allusions, direct scriptural quotes, or indications that people are "walking the walk" instead of just "talking the talk." I don't find anything religious in this book that detracts from the story or is distracting to me; quite the opposite, in fact. When I read a book like this, I feel I don't have to worry about coming across something objectionable to me in the language, some supernatural splash of something, or other things that, to me, would make the story objectionable.OK, I hope I've said enough in this review to help guide you in your decision about whether this is the kind of book that would interest you. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Another wonderful love story by Barbara Goss! By Debbie Fines I look forward to reading Barbara Gross' books. I always know her 'G'rated historical romances will quickly pull me in and not let go until I reluctantly read 'The End'. I love the way Barbara skillfully weaves her love of God unobtrusively throughout her stories, inviting you to love Him too. In "The Final Vow" Barbara has once again written a page turning story suitable for romance lovers of all ages. I have read and loved all of her books, "Captured Heart", "Dangerous Illusions", "Stolen Heritage","Forbidden Legacy", "Silent Love" and this one "The Final Vow". I think anyone that loves good, clean romances will love the writings of Barbara Goss.
