This book has a lot of color -- color pictures and color coded sections. It's great for individual clinical rotations. The subject content is only actually 311 pages and it's less than an inch thick. It is a good guide to study with as it hits on the important clinical diseases/scenarios and things to know for each rotation. For example, for Obstetrics, it goes in to detail about gestational diabetes, eclampsia, preeclampsia, normal changes during pregnancy, labor and abnormalities during labor -- it isn't detail overkill but it's thorough in the topics that it does covers in each section. Its subjects/sections are listed as the following:Cardiovascular DisordersPulmonary DisordersGastrointestinal DisordersGenitourinary DisordersEndocrine DisordersHematology and OncologySelected Topics in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and SurgeryNeurologic DisordersMusculoskeletal DisordersDermatologyGynecologic and Breast DisordersObstetricsPediatricsPsychiatric DisordersEpidemiology and EthicsAlthough I would like more space in the margins and at the bottom to take notes, and I would prefer paper more like that in First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 in 2012, 2013 and 2014 which tend to smear liquid pen ink much less frequently than the paper in this book does -- I am still very pleased with this book and would definitely recommend it if you're going to do clinical rotations and/or take Step 2.***UPDATE -- Had to remove 1 star for the number of things missing from just the two chapters of this book that I've studied thus far.The following topics do NOT have entries in this book: (I will update this list as I come across them)GYNECOLOGIC & BREAST DISORDERS -- Adenomyosis, Pelvic Organ Prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, enterocele), Urinary incontinence, Vaginal Cancer, Vulvar cancer, Lichen Sclerosis, Gynecomastia, Phyllodes tumor, Atypical hyperplasia of the breast, Hidradenitis suppurativa, Bartholin duct cysts & abscesses, Asherman Syndrome, Pediatric vaginal discharge, No information on GYN procedures - pap smear, D&C, Hysterosalpingogram,OBSTETRICS -- Obstetric analgesia & anesthesia, Vasa previa, Placenta accreta/increta/percreta, Hyperemesis gravidarum (mentioned only in a 'Quick Hit'), Macrosomia, Shoulder dystocia, Uterine atony, Sheehan Syndrome (Postpartum pituitary necrosis), Postpartum infections, Postpartum endometritis, Infertility, Breastfeeding, No explanation or graphic showing what the fetal station means_____________________________________Copyright 2016 Wolters Kluwer, 4th EditionISBN-10: 149630974XISBN-13: 978-1496309747Sold by: Amazon.com LLCShipped by: Amazon LLC

I got it before my 3rd year rotations began and haven't really begun to write in it much because I've only had Psych and Family Med so far but I've been referencing it quite a lot for things I can't seem to remember from Step 1. I was really on the fringe when deciding amongst the First Aid and Step-Up for Step 2 CK... I really like the layout in this book better, it seems more user friendly.

I am a medical student going in to my 4th year soon, and naturally, I am vigorously studying for STEP 2 CK.I initially used Doctors in Training for the step 1 and did very well. I am not sure whether I did well because of DIT or because I did extremely well during my first two years of school. However, why I am telling you this is because I decided that DIT had been a huge part of my success so I decided to purchase DIT for the STEP 2 CK as well (they had a deal going on and impulsive me bought it).Now lets fast forward. I am 2-3 weeks away from STEP 2 CK test and I am using DIT and the book they recommended, STEP UP TO USLME STEP 2 CK. I am super disappointed in this book for the following reasons:-This book literally leaves out nearly half of more than half of important information across all specialties (I ended up referring to my FIRST AID STEP 2 CK too many times).-Not only what I said above, but there is not enough room in the book margins to write in information (info form Uworld, first aid, etc)-This book is literally a script of what they say on the DIT videos. If you want to save 800 dollars, just buy this book instead of the DIT program.-Poorly organized. they attempted to organize in it a 3rd year rotation style way and they did to some success. However, the portion of unsuccess that I want to bring up to you guys is enough for me to write this review. I found myself looking at the index for many many topics that either were in a non-related section, OR NOT EVEN IN THE BOOK.bottom line, I was very disappointed. I would have returned this book instantly if I was not trying too stay optimistic.
