Well, I have zero idea what Linux is and this book just showed me how. It is a great introduction to Linux for beginners like me. This book guides readers in terms of introducing them to Linux as well as giving them a step-by-step assistance in installing and using it along with other software applications. Nice book!

Lehnus This is nothing more than a 41 page pamphlet on 8-inch by 4-inch paper of large-print, short page text covering very general basics with no more information than you can find when you search for information online (I recommend Wikipedia). There is not a single graphic--very cheaply done. The first half of the pamphlet gives very general information about choosing the program. The actual instructions for navigating, using command lines, and running files are from pages 23 to 33 (10 small, short pages with very few words per page). I can't believe that they are calling this a "book" and charging for it at all, much less over $12.

Dartt It's an interesting little book that would give someone that is New to Linux a decent idea of what they're going to get into IF they already haven't. It doesn't tell a person everything, but just enough to wet your whistle on deciding IF a Linux system is 'Right for You' vrs. an Apple or a Microsoft.
