Grand Series By Amazon Customer We have watched the TV series, which so far is different than the book content, but the books come alive with wonderful writing. The text flows from one page to another effortlessly and it is as if I was with Elizabeth as she wrestles with decisions and fears and challenges of the frontier western Canada. It is a Grand series.

I really enjoyed this collection of books by Janette Oke By Rose Mary Young I really enjoyed this collection of books by Janette Oke....I am watching "When Comes the Heart" on Hallmark channel and this inspired me to read the books... sad to say the tv show is loosely based on the book... I wish they had been more like the book.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. An enjoyable, religious read. By A Customer I enjoyed reading this series greatly. The first book was a little rough in my opinion—not enough character development—but still fun. As the series progressed, the characters were fleshed out better, and the stories became more adventurous, which I also liked. I loved learning more about the Canadian North (being from the US myself), and Oke's imagery is wonderful throughout the novelAs the series went on, the novels became increasingly religious, especially the last two. Being a Christian myself, I did not mind and found it very uplifting, but it sometimes felt more sermon-y than plot driven. It wasn't what I was wanting out of the stories, which is why I rated it as 4 stars instead of 5.All in all it was very engaging and well-written, and I enjoyed reading the whole series.One additional thing worth mentioning is that the editing was horrible. There were a large number of typos in the Kindle version (I can't speak for paper copies, though). I didn't factor this into my ratings, but Amazon needs a better editor for their Kindle transcriptions, in my opinion.
