Tugs the Heartstrings By DCallahan I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and I found A TIME TO HEAL to be a very sweet story.Kelli, the heroine, is distancing herself from a bad relationship and decides to start her life over in a new town, running a bar/restaurant with her pal, Beau, who has hired a melancholic friend of his, Dan, as top chef.Dan’s wife died a year ago and he is not handling it well. He does everything he can to push people away, which makes for a tenuous work environment, despite the obvious attraction he feels for Kelli.Kelli’s friend, Jillian, moves in with her, since she, too, is trying to start over, leaving her abusive ex behind.Problems start when someone is targeting one of the women, going out of his way to sabotage the house and bar Kelli and Jillian share. As Dan grows closer to Kelli, he finds his guilt over his wife’s death makes him seek solace in alcohol, jeopardizing his work relationships and pushing him further away from Kelli. Both Kelli and Dan have to learn to cope with their pasts or they’ll never find solace, let alone a chance at a happy future. A TIME TO HEAL is a sweet romance with imperiled and humanly-flawed characters, harboring a good message that time heals all wounds.

Realistic Romantic Suspense - a refreshing plot line away from the overdone billionaire books By Rebecca Roy I was given this book as an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. I found A Time to Heal was a great, fast read with memorable characters and a quick moving plot. The author took her time developing the characters and finding ways for the reader to relate. I enjoyed the suspenseful elements, but wanted more mystery in this plot.Kelli is a character that I found was easy to relate to. She was honest and quick witted and her damaged past made her scared to move forward. It was refreshing to read such an honest romance where the hero doesn't save the damsel in distress, but in fact the romance is true and real. There aren't enough honest plots in the romance genre today.

Kelli and Dan need time to heal and fall in love gradually. They both work in The Salty Claw, a new pub, where Kelli is front of house and partner in the business. Dan is the cook. The book tells of their relationship and unfolding drama at The Salty Claw. I enjoyed the story which had the happy ending that I expected. It was a good read.
