The second date flopped. There was no third date. I wondered why that first date had seemed so promising. Was it all in the location? What if a particular restaurant had special properties that guaranteed a great date? And what would give the restaurtant that magical power?The result was a uniquely Jewish mystery adventure novel (and soulmate romance) in Jerusalem. Q: The story is based on your first-hand experiences as a single person living in Katamon. Are the characters based on real people? A: Like Dave, I spent seven years as a single in Katamon before I met my wife. The novel builds on a lot of those experiences, but Dave is not based on my personal life story. Neither are the other characters, although for each character I know four or five real people who might think the character is based on them. But sorry, the characters are all figments of my overactive imagination.And no, I was never involved with any ruthless secret societies, and, unfortunately, I have not discovered that billion-dollar treasure. By Ariela Giladi The minute I started reading this book I was drawn into the magical streets of Jerusalem and the historical secrets they possess. Dan Sofer skillfully combines this enchanted environment with the most ancient task of all, to find a kindred spirit – a “true love” in the harsh world of dating.Looking forward to reading more novels by Dan Sofer!!

A romantic action story set in modern, history steeped Jerusalem By Debra J Berdugo Dan Sofer's debut novel "To Love and Beyond" is a real page turner. Dan cooks up a fusion dish of romantic comedy and action novel. Dave is an emotionally restrained single man who is desperate to get married. His good friend, a British archeologist in the City of David manages to drag him into adventures involving a Messianic cult's twisted attempt to bring the end of days.The author manages to paint a vivid picture of the Jerusalem singles scene with real attention to detail and a witty sense of humor. He has obviously done his homework about Jerusalem history and archeology, although sometimes the story gets bogged down in minutiae.The characters are very likeable and you find yourself rooting for them throughout the story. Looking forward to reading his next book.

The characters were well developed- you were given a good sense of what each was about and the weaving of historical events along with the romantic trials and tribulations of the main character along with this author's writing style made this book engaging and hard to put down! I look forward to additional books from this author- perhaps some sequels are in the works??.
