About the Author
Lonnie Wilson, a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Six Sigma trainer, has 20 years of experience in manufacturing management with an international oil company. In 1990, he started Quality Consultants which serves small firms and Fortune 500 companies in both the U.S. and Mexico. Mr. Wilson has taught for the El Paso Community College and the University of Texas at El Paso and is an active Senior Member of the American Society for Quality Control.

It really is a What to DO (and what NOT to do) book By KDM In case you missed the first edition, How To Implement Lean Manufacturing truly is a book that tells you what to do when undertaking a successful lean transformation. This is conveyed in Lonnie's plain English, no consultant-speak dialogue; his 30yrs of experience showing through in example after real-life example. The new material in the 2nd edition crystallizes key elements that are often missed in lean transformations - so critical are some of these elements that Lonnie addresses them as Lean Killers. This is the book that tells you what you should do, and more importantly, what you must do - if you want a chance of being successful.

By Jason Farley I've been doing Lean since 1990 when I worked for a Japanese automotive wire harness manufacturer and I have read many books... I truly enjoyed the First Edition of this book. That said, the Second Edition delivers a more complete treatment of the full Lean picture. Comprehensive and honest in terms of tools and organizational challenges. It's written in a way that makes one feel like Mr. Wilson is right there, mentoring the implementation process. Great for all levels!

By Phil Coy You might think that a second edition to an excellent first book wouldn't provide all that much new. But I was impressed with many new and significant insights that make this well worth adding as a lean reference. The focus reflects Lonnie's many years as a "doer" having to overcome the myriad resistances of people and organizations to fundamental change in "the way things get done around here". In my work leading a lean practice actively involved in enterprise-level change, we hit all of the issues that Lonnie calls out. His "prescriptions" are spot-on. I'll use this book... a lot.
