By Jason At 180 pages, the intended topic content doesn't really start till around chapter 4.The book introduces a lot of introductory topics (environment, setup etc) related to JavaScript, loosely related to 'High Performance' JavaScript.From Chapter 4 onwards various scenarios are walked through, the JavaScript language, web workers, promises, a chapter on iOS Hybrid apps and closing with unit testing. There is enough information to introduce the various topics lightly, but I think the title of Mastering is a bit misleading, for which I would direct you to the book "High Performance JavaScript" for a more in depth review of JavaScript performance.If you are after a general introduction and walk around Javascript performance, then this could be a good read, for more in-depth performance knowledge I would try elsewhere.

Touches on many subjects, not all related to Javascript performance By David Litmark Based on the title I expected to gain a deep understanding of how to write high performant JavaScript, but also found many chapters on subjects such as selecting an editor, linting, build systems, unit testing etc. which made the book feel a bit unfocused. And I would assume that a developer that looks for a book on how to MASTER JavaScript performance already have a good grasp on many, if not all, of these areas.The book gives an overview of browsers developer tools without going into any great detail and unfortunately lacks detailed examples of how to use any of these to find performance bottlenecks or memory leaks.Perhaps the title is a bit off the mark, or perhaps the chapters that does not address performance could have been edited out to make the book more focused on it’s core subject.

I haven't read any other books on the subject of performance in Javascript yet so I can't compare but there are lot's of other books that you probbly can spend your time better on. I am sorry for the author because I like his writing style.
