However, trading and software engineering are already full-time (and then some) activities as is network administration. Everybody cannot be an expert on all things that impact their livelihood. Herein we discuss the fundamentals of the high-performance networks found at contemporary COLO (Co-Location) sites and at “generically” represented securities exchanges. More specifically, with increasing use of server load balancing at the exchanges and clearing service providers, we investigate the details of load balancing and how to exploit it. Exploit! Oh what an ugly term. But it does not mean anything unethical or in any way “wrong”. For example, the rules of baseball say that after four pitches outside the strike-zone where the batter does not swing, the batter is given a “walk” to first base. Well at the end of the last inning, one run up, one man on, and the world’s best hitter stepping up to the plate is the pitcher going to throw one fast and straight down the center of the strike zone? Heck no!! Instead, four pitches in a row will happen so far outside the strike zone that it’s an even match between the catcher and first baseman as to who is closer to it. That is EXPLOITATION, using the rules of the game to your advantage. This technical report is not intended to teach you to “game the system”, instead, it is intended to help you not be beaten by either the system or those trying to “game” it. This technical paper, electronically published, is expensive. However, it is not nearly as expensive as hiring NVG Associates to provide the same information on a consulting basis (about 10% of the cost actually). We want more traders that need this information to have reasonably prices access to it. At the same time, this is not a report that will be sold to thousands of people, perhaps a couple hundred, so that is why it is priced as it is.

Some of the signs mean the complete opposite where I am from so it is good to know. I was luxuriously allowed to trade my drivers license for a French one, and I took a course which taught me the more prominent signage, however, that was given by the Swiss police so this book was super helpful and will get you road-trip ready for France.

By Penny Gremillon This great little book is a MUST for every English speaking person driving in France. It simply explains French road signs. After suffering terribly to pass the code then passing it I like to quiz folks from all over the world on French road signs. Well let me say that they ALL fail!!! These fortunate folks that were able to "trade in " a foreign licence for a French licence are all driving around without a clue to what the road signs mean!! Yikes!! Get the book!! Put it in your bathroom where you are forced to read it! This book may save a life.

Donald Barnard came to England from St Lucia to join the RAF as a bomber pilot. On his second tour of operations, he was shot down over northern France in September 1942. He was rewarded with the Distinguished Flying Cross whilst missing in action. Donald evaded capture; assisted to Spain by an escape network, and later compiled a detailed diary of his entire evasion exploits. Posted to test fly Spitfires, flying in excess of 1,000 individual aircraft. Barnard then moved to the Far East supply dropping in 1945. In Burma disapproving of the delay in recovering the emaciated allied POWs, he decided to take an aircraft without authority. 25 prisoners were recovered from Bankok to Rangoon. After a full Court Martial, he was dismissed from the RAF. He flew civilian aircraft after the war in Australia and in Britain, joining No. 2 Civil Anti Aircraft Cooperation Unit in Norfolk, 1953. Flying ended for him in 1955, and he died in 1997 at the age of 79. Rarely has the opportunity been available to reproduce from a diary such a personal account of evasion. A bomber and Spitfire pilot, Court Martialled for the rescue of Japanese held emaciated allied prisoners of war, creates a unique career story supported by French resistance sources original photographs.

About the Author Colin Pateman served for 32 years in Sussex Police, a qualified Home Office Instructor in all Police Dog roles. In addition, the specific search dog requirements with the armed services saw him trained by the Royal Engineers, and deployed as a search advisor in both his home county and Nationally. Oliver Clutton-Brock grew up in Lincoln where he developed a keen interest in the RAF. After attending prep school at The Craig in Windermere (1953-58) and then Shrewsbury School (1958-63), he had a number of jobs before joining the Civil Service in London. After researching for his first book, Massacre over the Marne (1994), he continued with research for a book on RAF Bomber Command prisoners of war (2003) and also one on RAF evaders (2009). Hobbies are, inter alia, collecting RAF signed covers, and old glasses and weights.

By AC From the first pages my heart was breaking for the little girl who went without the love she needed to be a confident young woman. But God uses our weakness and our personal tragedies to weave the tapestry of His making, in His will. Why He allows some things to happen, I will never understand. But regardless of whether we follow Him or struggle and take detours in this life, one thing is definitively constant, and that is His Grace. There is no mess that he can't turn around. No circumstance or situation that he can't use to grow us, to reflect His true character.The author paints a beautiful portrait of the one perfect love that is free and costs us nothing in return. If only we would look up instead of filling our lives with meaningless exchanges and destructive behavior. Ms. Davis exposes her flaws to the reader and in the process heavily vests the emotions of her audience, making her all the more endearing and her violators the equivalent of bottom-dwelling pariah. I found myself wanting to strangle half the men in this book. And Russell had better be in prison for life!The book is essential to any parent with young children and a naive world view. There are wolves out there. Often much closer than you think.

Chamil Madusanka is a Salesforce.com-certified Force.com developer. He has been working on Force.com projects since 2011. He works as a developer on many custom applications built on Force.com and has also trained end users and new Salesforce developers at his current company (attune Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.) and former company (Sabre Technologies (Pvt) Ltd). He has authored Visualforce Developer's Guide, Packt Publishing. Chamil won the Salesforce New Year Resolution 2013 challenge, which was rolled out by Salesforce. He is an active member of the Force.com community and contributes through various channels. He is passionate about Force.com and shares his knowledge of Force.com technologies through his blog (http://salesforceworld.blogspot.com/). By Tuan Abdeen I have read quite a lot of Salesforce related books around Admin and Dev. This book covers every aspect of the Force.com platform including the point & click as well as custom development options. I remember when I started learning Force.com technologies there were no books written by others than the official Salesforce guides. This book is very handy for someone who is new to Force.com or anyone looking to improve their Apex development skills.I was quite amazed to see how much the author has covered on this book specially around Email services and Force.com sites. Only missing point I would believe is around Integrations. Author has given bit of a intro to Integrations, but I would personally like to see some further details around SOAP and RESTFull services. May be couple of samples how to create a Global webservice and how to create @RestResource services for the book to be COMPLETE.

I found great books to begin my trip By Sparagis Elias When I started my experience with Force.com in late 2012, I was trying to see “under the hood” and beyond platform’s wizards in order to convince myself to integrate Force.com in my startup. I found great books to begin my trip, but I never found a book with easy language and less jargon.The ‘Learning Force.com Application Development’ from Chamil Madusanka (2015) is a broader approach to Force.com, covering not only the basic functionality and features. Using a friendly approach with simple language and easy-to-follow structure, each chapter interprets the key points and the included labs helps the comprehension.When I first held the book in my hands, I started reading the ‘Table of contents’ and I decided to begin with Apex. Soon enough, I realized that the author also keeps the friendly approach in this chapter, giving “food for thought” for further exploration of the Apex, although, it would be better for the reader to have some previous knowledge of the basics of OOP and the syntax of Transact SQL to dive quickly in coding labs.Concluding, this title provides a comprehensive knowledge for the Force.com platform and it is a great book to start. It can be read from absolute beginners, but it won’t disappoint experienced users like myself.I am pretty confident that you will love it and you will be more enthusiastic with Force.com.Happy reading

For those of you have not hands-on and would like to learn Force.com, this book will explain from scratch. I think this book can be categorized into 2 part, the first part would be basic knowledge not related to coding, from intro to Force.com, data model, user interface, security, business process, data management.The second part would dive into learning to write code in Force.com platform. This part cover from basic object oriented programming using Apex class, trigger, query language, and data manipulation. Continue to learn visualforce, where you can create your own custom page.Email service handling in Force.com is another useful chapter discussed in this book. The last part about deployment is interested because as a developer, you need to deploy your code into production as Force.com do not allow you to write code in the Production environment.In general, the book is nicely written and would be handy as reference for you to learn Force.com.

If you are a true fan of these sport coupes you owe it to yourself to get a copy of this book. For a Daytona fanatic like myself, it was a fun and entertaining read. Greg did his homework, the information is very thorough, and detailed. Good amount of pictures and graphs.Another way to describe this book is: The Chrysler G body cars never gained any international fame, or super-car status, they remain the most under rated Mopar performance vehicles to this day. So you have to ask yourself; why would someone go through all the trouble, time, expense, effort and labor to write a book on these cars?? Well, it's not for any fame or fortune, it is simply a labor of love, from one person who wants to give these cars their due credit. One thing I will note, Greg is not biased even though he loves these cars. He is critical when needed, and justly so. The book also features interviews with those who designed, and built these cars, so the reader gets multiple perspectives on these cars.Bottom line: WORTH EVERY PENNY.

If you want to know anything about the history, options, real world preformance, production figures,ect. this is the book to have. The author did a ton of research and should be commende for an excellent job! Ray Comfort and Mark Cahill also have some really goood material. HIGHLY recomended!!

My son bought one of these cars, I was sold on the first ride. I grew up in the muscle car era, now I own one of these.

Failure of components or systems must be prevented by both designers and operators of systems, but knowledge of the underlying mechanisms is often lacking. Since the relation between the expected usage of a system and its failure behavior is unknown, unexpected failures often occur, with possibly serious financial and safety consequences.

Principles of Loads and Failure Mechanisms.  Applications in Maintenance, Reliability and Design provides a complete overview of all relevant failure mechanisms, ranging from mechanical failures like fatigue and creep to corrosion and electric failures. Both qualitative and quantitative descriptions of the mechanisms and their governing loads enable a solid assessment of a system’s reliability in a given or assumed operational context.

Moreover, a unique range of applications of this knowledge in the fields of maintenance, reliability and design are presented. The benefits of understanding the physics of failure are demonstrated for subjects like condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, prognostics and health management, failure analysis and reliability engineering. Finally, the role of these mechanisms in design processes and design for maintenance are illustrated.

About the Author

Tiedo Tinga holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Eindhoven University of Technology) on the development of a micro-mechanical model for Ni-base superalloys in gas turbine blades.

He has been working as a senior scientist at the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR in the Netherlands for almost 10 years. There he ran several research projects in the field of computational mechanics, mainly concerning life assessments of airframe and gas turbine components. Since 2007 he is an associate professor in Maintenance Engineering at the Netherlands Defence Academy and thus involved in the education of future officers for the Dutch Navy, Air force and y. He is also leading the research program on maintenance of military systems, which aims to combine scientific research to innovative maintenance concepts with practical applications within the ministry of Defence. In 2012 he has been appointed as full professor Dynamics Based Maintenance at the University of Twente. He now combines this chair with his position at the Defence Academy.

Porter will pull at your heart strings! His love of Brin is sweet, gentle, and kind. It's not all peaches and cream but for them it's perfect. Definitely a must read!

Such a beautiful story weaved around interesting subject matter. I fell in love with Porter and Brinley and thought about their fictional union long after I finished the book. When I heard that there was more to their story being written, I may have audibly cheered. This novella is the perfect extension of an already near perfect conclusion in the first book. I so enjoyed reading what life was like for them after they really got started. Their happily after after didn't come without struggles which was refreshing to read. Melissa Brown paints an incredibly accurate picture of addiction and how difficult things can get sometimes. But I am SO glad that love prevailed. These two deserve to be happy after everything they have endured with and without each other. The supporting characters were well written, flawlessly developed, and people that I would be honored to know in real life. Kudos and applause to Brown for another home run with His Only Wife!

His Only Wife is a beautiful and sweet extended epilogue to Brin and Porter’s story.This novella takes place about three years after Wife Number Seven ends. Brin is out of the compound completely. Porter is trying to clean up his life and stay clean. Brin and Porter are in love and happy, but they still have obstacles to overcome. Their past isn’t an easy one and getting through those things takes time, love and patience.Brin and Porter want each other. They love each other. And most importantly, they are patient and understanding with each other. I adore this couple together.Readers of Wife Number Seven know how special and amazing that book is. It’s one of my favorites. I was happy to get this lovely conclusion of this beautiful couple! I can’t wait for Melissa to write more books in this series (ASPEN!!!)

White Star Line: A Photographic History is the story of the famous shipping line which was in existence for only 70-odd years but which managed, from its first voyage in 1871 to its merger with Cunard in 1934, to build some of the most luxurious ships afloat, including the three giant sisters, Olympic, Titanic and Britannic. Many previously unpublished images tell the story of the White Star Line from its inception in 1869 to the scrapping of the last liner in the fleet in 1960. Only one vessel survives from the White Star Line today, the small passenger tender Nomadic, built specially to service the Olympic and Titanic at Cherbourg and all that remains of the other ships are photos and small items from on board. Janette McCutcheon uses some of her collection of memorabilia to tell the story, not just of the Titanic and her sister ships but also that of the other vessels of the fleet, from the Oceanic of 1870 to the Georgic of 1932. As well as its transatlantic services from Liverpool and Southampton, the Mediterranean and Australia/New Zealand services are covered too.

Elias I was expecting to see the great liners of the White Star line prior the merger with the Cunard Line. The cover it's impressive with a picture of the White Star's 1920-30's flagship the RMS Majestic docking. Inside there a re many photo with captions and stories of the White Star fleet. Unfortunately most pictures are small and not much can be seen. It isn't a grand book but it's is a pleasant one that probably most collectors would like to have.

Lepien BUT - it's not - a lot of new photos - two shots of the "Olympic" I've never seen before - and you have to get up pretty early in the morning to show me a new photo of her! Basically, a photo book - but with some text that is informative - but let's face it - most of us are in the market for new photos and this book delivers!

From the Author A Brief Q&A With the Author Kindle Scout Team: When did you decide to become a writer? The Behrg: My decision to be a writer was made in the 4th grade thanks to an encouraging teacher. Having been in the film industry for years I gravitated towards screenwriting, however it wasn't until I began my first horror novel that I discovered my true passion. Kindle Scout Team: What is the inspiration for the story? The Behrg: The idea for this horror story came from a door to door salesman bugging me at home. I suddenly thought, what if he had ulterior motives than the weak sales pitch he delivered? I couldn't sleep that night, my head overflowing with ideas. The next day I began writing. Kindle Scout Team: What did you learn while writing this book? The Behrg: I learned that to be a writer you have to write, it's that simple. The blinking cursor is your friend, an open invitation to worlds without end. I also learned that writer's block is a sign that you're forcing the plot or your characters. A Stylistically Thrilling Noir Novel From The Behrg By Joseph Souza, Author of Crime Thriller, NEED TO FIND YOU HOUSEBROKEN, one of the first novels published by Kindle Scout, is a stylistic thriller set in Southern Cal that will leave you with a severe case of vertigo. The intrigue starts when a family is taken hostage in their pricey new home, by two psychotic criminals with no clear motive in mind—except to observe the family's everyday behavior. But then it becomes so much more. What ensues is a plot that moves along at a breakneck, almost speed-of-light paceI I often found myself putting this book down in order to catch my breath.As the novel ramps up, the twists and turns come with the relentless fury of a Bruce Lee attack. The Behrg writes in a highly stylistic fashion that finds metaphors in the smallest of life's detail. He also does a bang-up job of satirizing the world of the affluent dot.commers that habituate Southern California. This psychological thriller is filled with enough violence and gore to fill three books, and contains elements of horror that would make Stephen King cringe. This author writes with confidence and pizzaz, possessing an astute knowledge of the terrain he obviously enjoys scorching. He is a great new author to watch.

Two days after I finished reading HOUSEBROKEN, The Behrg’s antagonist, Joge, is still lisping in my brain – worse than cringe worthy, this character’s voice melts my bones into gelatin. The creep factor in this horror plot is set to “high” from the first page to the very last punctuation mark.With a slight nod to science fiction (maybe not – perhaps this technology truly is in development) mixed with the pervasive psychosis demonstrated by several of the characters, I was turning the pages looking for respite from the constant pressure of fear and pain experienced by the protagonists. Perverse, this book teetered along the line of a Stephen King horror plot without falling over the cliff where “too much” would rob the reader of an excellent literary experience with a well-crafted plot and its believability. Indeed this story, painted with a photorealistic technique that made it all too possible and all too plausible, is the stuff of nightmares because it could be happening right this minute.If you’re looking for a dive into the dark side of humanity, this is the book you’ll want to read.

The writing is so well done; the dialogue, characters,settings are all credible and is what makes this book a satisfying thriller.Needless to say I loved this read and its exactly what I’ve been looking for in the horror genre.The antagonist, Joje​ is simply a character to hate. He has no sense of remorse at all- a really nasty person you’d never want to run into.The characters in the Crochet family are well thought out. Jenna,my favorite is strong,resilient and believable.Blake was certainly determined and was really brought to life when finally realizing how much his family meant to him.Adam, I had a hard time with and I really never li​k​ed or more importantly, trusted.The storyline here moves at a fast clip and provides some twists you will never see coming.The ending here, for me, is either a wishful teaser for a sequel or quite the creepy ending!I am certainly looking forward to reading future works by this author.
