By Andrew As I began reading the book “Boot Camp For The Ebay Warrior”, the pieces of the puzzle of why I wasn’t selling on Ebay became clearer. It wasn’t because my stuff was junk, it was because of multiple issues. I noticed the biggest problem was really me. I really thought if I just put the stuff on there, it would just sell. I could not be more wrong. Smith’s book really opened my eyes to issues of problems a lot of sellers have every day, but are afraid to admit. There are certain ways to do things and so many sellers think they know the answers not because of research but because what their gut tells them to do. For example, would you drive a car on blocks or a tire? LOL, some people would try to drive it on blocks. Smith clearly shows in his book that people without drive, people without dreams stay where they are in life and if not there, they sink to a newer lower level. Smith’s advice is golden. Each chapter he starts off with a motivational quote and then follows up with the problem. Immediately he begins to lay out his system to overcome any and all obstacles associated with it. There are some motivational books out there that dance around the subject of goal setting and achieving goals. But I have found them to be vague and boring. Smith’s book moves at a rapid pace and gives you the green light immediately. I really recommend this book to anyone wanting to reach their dreams on Ebay, you can do it, and “Boot Camp for the Ebay Warrior” is a must have.

Boot camp for Ebay By Phoebe Stone I am big fan of the online business environment and my husband and I have been exploring options to kick off our online business. For people who will also read this book, It will probably become clear why for our case, it was particularly easy to relate to the story of this book - as there are similarities. Of course, it is very helpful to read about a real story, shared by someone that found the path to success. Things might no apply exactly the same for every case, but for sure there is value add in understanding how others have done it. This is exactly what this book provides - a personal experience of doing business on Ebay and becoming successful at it. The read is also fun, on top of being useful.

    Review

This is a terrific new book on shock compression science from one of the top researchers in the field. I have worked with shock waves for a number of years, but I was not formally trained in the area. What makes this book special is the emphasis on explaining the fundamentals in an extremely clear and logical fashion. […] This book has also been a gift to my students, who bought the Kindle edition and finally have a reference that is fun to read and tremendously instructive. I think that experts in the field can appreciate and enjoy this book and its perceptive insights, and for newcomers it is a positive must have.

This book provides a fantastic introduction to the nuts and bolts of shock compression of materials and will be a canonical reference for neophytes and experts alike. There is a pressing need for a treatment of this subject that can be handed to a new student to get him/her up to speed; Forbes has provided that book. […] I discovered that this book is available electronically through my institution's library; pdf versions of the chapters can be downloaded individually making for easy distribution to my group members.

The recently published book "Shock Compression of Condensed Matter" by Dr. Jerry Forbes is an excellent comprehensive teaching and research summary of the various fields that apply shock waves to many different types of solids and liquids.  While most teaching texts do not include modern experimental and theoretical techniques and most topical research texts do not contain sufficient background information, this book presents both in a clear, well-organized manner. The author combined lessons learned during several years of teaching shock wave compression courses and many years of state-of-the-art experimental research to create this unique book. […]

From the Back Cover This book introduces the core concepts of the shock wave physics of condensed matter, taking a continuum mechanics approach to examine liquids and isotropic solids. The text primarily focuses on one-dimensional uniaxial compression in order to show the key features of condensed matter’s response to shock wave loading. The first four chapters are specifically designed to quickly familiarize physical scientists and engineers with how shock waves interact with other shock waves or material boundaries, as well as to allow readers to better understand shock wave literature, use basic data analysis techniques, and design simple 1-D shock wave experiments. This is achieved by first presenting the steady one-dimensional strain conservation laws using shock wave impedance matching, which insures conservation of mass, momentum and energy. Here, the initial emphasis is on the meaning of shock wave and mass velocities in a laboratory coordinate system. An overview of basic experimental techniques for measuring pressure, shock velocity, mass velocity, compression and internal energy of steady 1-D shock waves is then presented. In the second part of the book, more advanced topics are progressively introduced: thermodynamic surfaces are used to describe equilibrium flow behavior, first-order Maxwell solid models are used to describe time-dependent flow behavior, descriptions of detonation shock waves in ideal and non-ideal explosives are provided, and lastly, a select group of current issues in shock wave physics are discussed in the final chapter.

Dlott This is a teriffic new book on shock compression science from one of the top researchers in the field. I have worked with shock waves for a number of years, but I was not formally trained in the area. What makes this book special is the emphasis on explaining the fundamentals in an extremely clear and logical fashion. The other standard texts in this field seem to assume a level of knowledge that I did not possess, so I had a very difficult time understanding them. These topics included impedance-matching, shock wave profiles, phase transitions and steady detonation waves. Although I had studied them for many years, they were were made clear to me for the first time when I read this book. A great "aha" experience. This book has also been a gift to my students, who bought the Kindle edition and finally have a reference that is fun to read and tremendously instructive. I think that experts in the field can appreciate and enjoy this book and its perceptive insights, and for newcomers it is a positive must have.

(review with pictures) By Sheri Salatin There are over 100 recipes in this books, all of which are gluten free, seasonal and farm to table. I think I’ve tried at least 25 to 30 of them already. Wow! I haven’t yet met one yet that I didn’t like. This book is a definite 5 stars in my opinion. The recipes are divided into three categories – Early Season, Mid-Season and Late Season – so they are applicable no matter where you live. Not only does this book have recipes, but the beginning chapters are filled for Sustainable Living ideas and tips and tricks on growing and raising chickens, goats, sheep, rabbits, bees and cows on a farm. It has sections on how to purchase sustainable foods, including questions to ask a farmer. It contains super easy recipes for making chicken, beef and fish stock. I love how Diana breaks the stock down to be easy-peasy and after trying her chicken stock recipe, I’m hooked! :)In the back of the book, you’ll find special sections on canning tomatoes, freezing greens and caring for cast iron pans.Does it sound like I’m gushing? Perhaps I am. Honestly, though, I can’t say enough good about the book. What I found the most helpful was her reference boxes at the bottom of each recipe providing information on Whole30, nut-free, egg-free and AIP options (Autoimmune Paleo). This is a must have for any families with food allergies. (see photo)Okay, now for the downside of the book. There is only one thing that would make this book absolutely perfect in every way and that is the addition of a good recipe index. I would have loved to have a recipe index either at the back or the beginning of each of the season sections. So many times, I saw a recipe that I loved and then couldn’t remember where it was later. My solution to this is sticky notes. I marked each recipe that I was planning to make in the next day or so and then they were right at my fingertips. (see photo)The back of the book does have a word index so that was helpful and I ended up highlighting the recipe sections in it. (see photo) This helped me to find just the right recipe for the occasion quickly.I do want to mention one more thing – the Pictures! Wow, fantastic photography! The pictures made me smile and were a wonderful visual for the recipes. I learned that they were all taken with film – not digital, which in this day and age is quite remarkable.Buy the book! You won't be sorry!

More than a cookbook, this is a healthy lifestyle book By Lisa at Fresh Eggs Daily More than a farm to table cookbook, The Homegrown Paleo Cookbook not only is chock full of delicious-looking and sounding healthy recipes using fresh ingredients from the garden, pasture and coop, but also a handy homesteader's guide with sections on making beeswax candles, caring for your cast iron pan and coloring eggs with natural dyes. The photographs are beautiful, the recipes simple and lovely to look at. The book is so much more than a cookbook, but borders on being a lifestyle guide, offering garden plot designs and tips on starting seeds and working your soil. Anyone who is inspired to eat healthier and start to learn where your food comes from by growing and raising it yourself, should read this book. I do not eat a paleo diet, and I don't cook gluten-free, but I don't need to do either in order to appreciate the recipes in this cookbook. It's simple to add a side of rice or potatoes or even pasta to any of Diana's wonderful nutritious paleo dishes.

This book earns a well-deserved place on your bookshelf By Tooncesmom Diana Rodgers’ The Homegrown Paleo Cookbook landed in my mailbox the other day and I’m blown away. This author and her beautiful book speak to me. The layout, photographs and information are everything a Paleo gal interested in not only what she cooks but WHERE her food comes from could want. I am that gal—living in the coastal mountains near a beach town, yet not far from Silicon Valley. We have acreage, an orchard, an organic garden and chickens.Diana’s book provides an overview of the many aspects of sustainable Paleo living wherein she discusses the problems of modern eating and offers instead the keys to a healthful farm-to-table method for better health. She covers the basics of raising animals—chickens, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs and the family cow, along with a section on sustainable seafood and another on beekeeping. You’ll learn about getting started with your garden, which varieties of certain vegetables are their personal favorites, plus how to build healthy soil and how best to rotate crops to ensure steady production. The recipes are divided into three seasons. I loved the early Season recipes that include delicacies such as Stinging Nettle Soup (p. 154), gorgeous pea green with a swirl of crème fraiche on top. There’s a grilled boneless leg of lamb with garlic scape pesto and mint that set my mouth watering and a Rhubarb Ginger Sauce (p. 172) that can be used with meat or as an ice cream topping. In the dessert section there’s one recipe…for Almond Panna Cotta with Roasted Strawberries (p. 198). I’m a panna cotta fan and am carefully watching the strawberry plants in my garden so I can pluck the first fruits for the delectable dish.Midseason Recipes cover the time from July through September which coincides with canning season as well. I liked the Grilled Cinnamon Steak (p. 224) using grass-fed beef filet tail. A dry cinnamon rub coats the meat prior to grilling.Late Season Recipes (late October to mid-December) include Big Bad Rooster Soup (p. 262), a chicken soup with an abundance of fresh veggies, Moroccan Egg and Lamb Tagine (p. 266) and Hard Cider (p. 276). This one piqued my interest since we have several apple trees in our little orchard. My next dish to try will be the Rosemary Potato Stacks (p. 292), a take-off on Potatoes Anna. The book is chock full of numerous tips: how to care for cast-iron skillets, a meat doneness chart, how to render lard, how to can tomatoes and much more. The final section offers tips on living—how to have a healthy lifestyle, finding personal fulfillment, etc. While many of these are briefly touched upon, there’s a wealth of practical how to’s to interest anyone in the basics of sustainable Paleo living. For the beginner, there’s enough information to get started, and opens the doorway to additional extensive research. For the cook, the recipes alone will delight, but this book is a compendium and earns a well-deserved place on your bookshelf.

We are new to Chickens, and I am one to like to read about a topic to learn what I need to know. This book has been an excellent resource! Wondering when chicks can start to venture outdoors? What are the true tolerance temperatures for young vs older chickens? What are the anatomical structures of birds that will help you tell boys from girls? How do you manage layers versus broilers? How do you butcher and clean a chicken? What are the proper elements for a brooder and a coop? They go into tons of detail on all topics, also pointing out some of the things to avoid. I had tried several of the other books out there (ones free with Prime or Unlimited), as well as using online forums, but I would have a hard time finding specific comprehensive answers to my questions. This book seems to have it all!

It is easy to find the answer to a quick question or concern and a fun read. I gave it four stars because I would like to see a few more illustrations and an expanded description of the different breeds. My chicks are alive and well, so far, thanks to the great advice in this book.

Between 1953 and 1980 the Triumph competitions department produced more than 150 'works' competition cars for race and rally. These included TR2, TR3 and TR3A, the TR3S, TRS and Conrero race cars, Herald and Vitesse, TR4, 2000, Spitfire and GT6R, 2.5 PI, Dolomite and Sprint, TR7 and TR7 V8. In addition they prepared Standard Eight, Ten, Pennant, and Phase III Vanguard for competition. Viewed overall, what stands out as the remarkable feature of the work of the department was that they achieved such a degree of success with relatively ordinary production cars, from 803cc saloons upwards. Author Graham Robson was manager of the Standard-Triumph competitions department in the early 1960s and himself supervised the development and management of the works TR4s, Spitfires and 2000s. Here he provides information on each and every one of the works cars of the whole 1953-80 period, with details of their specifications, entries, drivers and careers, accompanied in nearly all cases by archive photographs. In addition there is specially commissioned colour photography of important surviving examples.

Graham Is in a very enviable position to tell all of his tales as a former insider with the "Works". Everyone of his books reveals new details to the story that only one who experienced it all first hand can do. Having personally worked very close to the U.S. side of the competition program, it was great fun to learn more about the international exploits of the teams well beyond U.S. shores. I recommend this book very highly to anyone anxious to know more about the unique time and accomplishments of all of the various families that encompassed the breed Triumph.

Packt has finally published the PowerCLI Cookbook and I highly recommend it By Earl Waud I am a virtualization engineer with 9 years of experience creating automation and administration solutions for large corporations.Last year I was contacted by Packt Publishing and asked if I would be interested in providing technical review services for a new book titled PowerCLI Cookbook. It seemed like an excellent opportunity and I quickly agreed. They sent me a draft copy of the book, one chapter at a time. I would review the chapter content for technical accuracy and test each of the chapter’s code samples and downloadable content, and reply with any corrections, my comments and any feedback. I quickly realized that reading a technical book is a lot different than reviewing a technical book. However I still enjoyed the process as It gave me a chance to use (and expand) my skills in a fun new way.Chapter by chapter, I reviewed the book. I found each chapter to be filled with powerful examples, showing ways to simplify and automate the real tasks that vSphere administrators need to do, the real tasks that I need to do. I finished my review of the last chapter back in early November .Well, Packt has finally published the PowerCLI Cookbook. They wanted to give the author time to validate and update the book’s content to include the vSphere 6 feature set. With a published copy in hand, and based on my detailed review of the book’s content, I can tell you with confidence that Philip Sellers has delivered an excellent resource on PowerCLI, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for such a resource. The book details examples of dozens of highly useful, real world tasks needed for the day-to-day administration of your vSphere environment. The examples are presented in a way that lets your quickly learn to use and adapt them to your needs.Whether you are new to PowerCLI and looking for a book to help you learn and get started, or you are an experienced PowerShell or PowerCLI user looking for a great reference book to help you automate the administration of your virtual environment, you will find this book to be an excellent choice.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Spinning Gold with the PowerCLI Cookbook By Chris Wahl One of the more difficult parts of learning PowerCLI - and PowerShell itself - is determining where to get started. I often suggest identifying a project or task that you want to complete, and then figuring out how to do it, because aimlessly fiddling with a language can be frustrating. If you're looking for a library of sample code that walks you through the why and how, I'd suggest picking up the PowerCLI Cookbook written by Philip Sellers. The book is published through Packt Publishing, who's library contains material that wildly varies across the quality spectrum. However, it is obvious that Philip put a large quantity of time, effort, and care into this book and offers over 200 pages of in-depth discussion and examples for automating a wide swath of data center activities. Each walk-through is arranged into a recipe, containing details on what will be required to follow along with the recipe, steps required to build the code, details on why the code is setup the way it is (and how to modify it for your own purposes). The author has frequently added additional reading to the recipes with blog links, documentation, KBs, and other handy resources.Of note, Philip has built a fairly robust set method for balancing share allocations and resource pools using some of my older work as a baseline. Don't worry, he pinged me about it before it made it into the book, but his approach of using a custom attributes (page 140) is refreshing and looks solid. He even writes a proper function whereas my code was just a spitball idea. There's also an entire section on snapshot management (page 107) with the steps necessary to build a snapshot management module (page 129). I've talked about PowerShell modules recently, and it's spectacular to see examples on building custom modules in this book. Philip offers ideas around naming of snapshots, when to quiesce memory, and how to automate / prune the snapshot lifecycle. This is solid stuff. The last thing I'll compliment is the points in the book where Philip goes a bit out of scope of a straight cookbook. For example, on page 78 there's a decent volume of content covering the use of Get-View and how to view properties and methods. That's some pretty advanced stuff, but the writing breaks it down into meaningful and digestible chunks. Having hit the limitation of the native PowerCLI cmdlets frequently, there's definitely a lot of value in knowing how to leverage methods directly. If you're brand new to PowerCLI, or looking to leverage some polished examples to help tickle the noodle on coding ideas, I'd suggest picking up a copy of PowerCLI Cookbook. I read the whole thing over the course of a few plane flights because it was that good.Note: I requested a review copy of the book from the author which was fulfilled by the publisher.

I’ve already found several topics that I’ve needed to get into my production routine. The book is put together very well with straight forward approaches covering what I and many administrators need every day for administration. Scripting and automation are life savers (no longer optional, but required). I believe I’ve already recouped my investment by just using the recipes presented and I’ve only just begun.
