The essays on Ferrari's woes, Mercedes's design, and the Nico-Lewis rivalry were fascinating and detailed. More statistics by David Hayhoe would have made it 5 stars. Also disappointed the results of the Nov. WEC race were not included. Otherwise, top-notch effort.

An easy guide to learning every day Spanish By excellentwheels Although the United States does not officially have a federally recognized second-language Spanish is getting pretty close, as it is most likely the second most prevalent population presently in North America and because of this, I have recently considered at least taking a basic course in Spanish so that I am better able to communicate with a larger segment of the population as Indiana Jones and various others have stated that language is the key to the universe taking that sentiment to heart. I went looking for a basic beginner’s guide to understanding the Spanish language and I stumbled across this little gem. This 37 page volume contains all the most important aspects and phrases of the Spanish language that I am most likely to use on a daily basis in real-world conversation such as asking for the time or directions or how to find the nearest restaurant or making polite formal introductions to business partners and much more.I found this book to be very easy to follow and understand. As all of the words and phrases are laid out in a frenetic style of pronunciation making the language that much easier to learn and although I am certain that I will need some more in-depth and/or formal training at a later date for the price point. This book is an excellent starting point. I am very happy with the way my language skills are developing and therefore I am very pleased with my purchase. If you are looking for a basic, easy to understand beginner’s guide to learning the Spanish language, then I suggest starting with this book. I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

It introduces the basics of Spanish. The author took time to make me feel comfortable as I try to pick up the language. It starts of slow and really breaks it so even I could understand it! And I had a hard time with Spanish in high school.The author puts hour mind at ease. She explains the Spanish alphabet and how to properly pronounce the letters. It was very motivational and I'm going to practice every day till I'm fluent. I definitely recommended it to everyone. Feliz lunes!!!!

This book was fantastic, teaching me everything from comprehension to pronunciation. I'd always wanted to learn Spanish in the past, and with a few of my friends already being quite fluent, I didn't want to embarrass myself by struggling through broken conversations with them. This book allowed me to surprise them with how competent I had become in the short space of time since downloading this book.

About the Author Jim Nelson was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine and graduated from UCLA with a degree in motion picture/television production. For six years he worked on board traditional sailing ships before turned thirty and realizing it would be easier to write about sailing rather than actually doing it. His career as a writer began in 1994 and he has since written twenty works of maritime fiction and history. He is the winner or the American Library Association/William Young Boyd Award and the Naval Order’s Samuel Eliot Morison Award. Nelson has lectured all over the country and appeared on the Discovery Channel, History Channel and BookTV. He currently lives in Harpswell, Maine, with his former shipmate, now wife Lisa and their four children.

Norse against Danes against Irish By JPS This is the third episode of the Norsemen Saga, and of the adventures of Thorgrim Night Wolf, his son Harald Broad Arm, and his father-in-law, Jarl Ornulf the Restless. It continues the two first books and is much like them, with, again, a few additional twists.This time, the action focuses in and around Vik-Lo, “the grassy meadow by the bay”, apparently, and now modern Wicklow in Ireland, which is held by a band of Danes under the overall command of Grimarr Giant. Some of these have just plundered a rich monastery further tin the south but the treasure is lost when one of the Danes’ ships is assaulted by the forces of the local and very ambitious Irish warlord and his forces. Meanwhile, Thorgrim and his Norse crew have left Dubh-linn but are caught in a terrible storm. Their ship is damaged and they are forced to head south and seek refuge in Vik-Lo to repair.Once again, you can expect plenty of clashes with the now usual (but still just as enjoyable!) suicidal attacks from Starri Deathless who still does not manage to get himself killed. You also get a particularly impressive display of Thorgrim Night Wolf’s “special talent” when he gets bashed about and wounded, once again. This time, however, the climax brings changes, in addition to a major clash, which I will refrain from mentioning any further.Another additional twist introduced in this volume is the rather terrific and desperate fight that Thorgim and his crew have to wage against a storm to stay alive. Here again, the description of the storm and how they barely manage to keep the ship from sinking is rather griping.If you liked the first two, then I barely need to recommend this one because it is largely more of the same and you will know exactly what to expect. If you have not read the first two, you could perhaps just about start with this volume although I would advise reading them in their logical order. Either way, you should not be disappointed. I certainly was not. Five stars.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Another fine work by James Nelson By R. E. Lee As with most of Jim's titles I binge-read this book, completing it in a 24 hour period. I have long been a fan of Nelson's unique nautical style of meshing history and fiction. If you are a fan of the History Channel's "Vikings", you'll enjoy this series.As with all his novels, I do wish the author would include maps of the locations used for settings and schematics of ships and other artifacts as, being a lubber, I find myself constructing conflicting mental images from the deeply nautical lingo he liberally includes from his mastery of the subject. But I suppose, that's what the internet is for.As good as this Viking series is, Jim will find it difficult to outdo himself after "The Only Life That Mattered". I advocate reading all of Jim's novels but if you can only read one James Nelson book, this pirate-based masterpiece should be it.

The Best Nelson Viking Novel Yet By David Lynn Having read all the historical novels written by Cornwall, Penman, Tranter, and others, I was pleased to discover Nelson and the Viking series. The Viking settlement of the major cities of Ireland is fertile territory, not previously tapped by other writers. Nelson seems to have done his homework on the Norwegan-Danish-Gaelic conflicts and the ever shifting alliances within Ireland.The first two volumes were very good, but this book has a richer, multi-layered plot line with several twists and surprises. I also truly enjoyed the detailed deceptions of sailing techniques and rigging for a longship, though I am still puzzling over the implication that these flat-bottom, virtually keel- less boats could beat upwind. I certainly have a deeper appreciation for the potential sailing prowess of the Vikings and the role sailing could have played in their travels.My only suggestions would be to get an editor who can catch the typos. Too good a book to have typos one sees in the many of the lessor the fast-written, self-published books on Amazon. I would also love to see a bit more in future storylines on the Viking as traders as well as raiders. Perhaps this is too early for that, but I had understood that they did both. And presumably the Irish traded with someone.A very well-crafted, tight, and engaging read that will give you a deeper understanding of the port cities of Ireland and how they were founded.

Buy an older version unless you need online content By GamerGuy I recommend buying an old used version.Maybe there are a few errors in those versions, but I doubt many.Someone loaned me the fifth edition. It's identical. The questions are exactly the same. Why even make a "new edition" was there 1 piece of punctuation that needed changing somewhere?

While admitting that the scant amount of written material about Bessie Coleman has affected the scope of her book, Rich has nonetheless crafted the recollections of aging relatives, friends, and eyewitnesses, as well as press clippings and Coleman's few letters, into a vivid portrait of a remarkable woman. Born in 1892 in Atlanta, Texas, Coleman found her hitherto happy childhood changing when her father, a day laborer, left Texas in search of better work, and when school became an intermittent thing, squeezed in between cotton-picking and housework. Determined to make something of herself, the future aviatrix headed for Chicago, where she studied to become a manicurist. Though the work brought good money, as well as contacts with leaders of the black community, it failed to satisfy. On the spur of the moment, Coleman, hearing talk of French women fliers, ``decided that flying would provide a way to be noticed.'' Unable to train in the US, the ever-resourceful young woman got financial backing and sailed to France. There, she earned her license in 1921, two years before Amelia Earhart. Returning home as a celebrity, she flew in air shows, performed daring stunts, and--described as ``the world's greatest woman flyer''--spoke widely about the need for blacks to learn to fly. But segregation, sexism, and several accidents made Coleman's life difficult and thwarted her ambition to open a flying school. In 1926, just as her life seemed to be turning around, she died in a crash. A timely and engaging introduction to a woman of stunning accomplishment and courage who deserves a place of high honor in the pantheon of early flying. Root As far as I know, this is the only adult biography of Bessie Coleman, the pioneer African-American aviatrix. Rich notes that she was hampered by a lack of personal material, but has none the less produced a fascinating biography. Coleman, a woman of modest background, overcame barriers of wealth, race and gender. A national celebrity, especially among Blacks, she was even able to attract the attention of white Americans. Through her airshows and lectures, and against a great deal of hostility, she was a tireless campaigner for equality for both sex and gender. Mae Jemison, the first African-American female astronaut has written an afterword. For some reason, this is after the notes and bibliography, but before the index.There are a variety of biographies of Coleman aimed at various ages of children. While reading this, I also read Bessie Coleman; first Black Woman Pilot by Connie Plantz. This is of course the most detailed and contains a considerable amount of historical and contextual information. Both this and Plantz's book are lavishly illustrated, happily with a number of different pictures, and I recommend both to anyone interested in visual information.The book has copious notes, a lengthy bibliography and an index.

Excellent Biography By Marcus W Pernod I have been working on a project involving Bessie Coleman, the first African American pilot in the U.S. Doris Rich's book was the best of the lot. Bessie did not leave a copious paper-trail with mounds of letters to others, but Rich has managed to track down specifics about many of the details of her life. Her account of Bessie's death in 1926 here in Jacksonville, Fla., is the most complete of any available books.As with many people, Bessie's dreams were bigger than her pocketbook.Howard DensonNorth Florida WritersJacksonville, FL

There are only 3 practice tests instead of 4, which is a huge mistake on their part, especially when 4 is on the front cover. Also, plenty of the questions have faulty answers, and there are numerous typos in the book.For instance, on question 28, they completely messed up the question by putting a ; instead of a ,, which would change the answer. I also get the feeling that these questions are inadequately written.The practice areas are also incomplete and not very helpful. In fact, some of their tips are actually things that I would avoid doing on a test like this.I do not recommend buying this book.

About the Author Glen Dupree, D.V.M. is a graduate of the Louisiana State School of Veterinary Medicine, where he received training in the techniques and applications of conventional allopathic medicine. After running a solo veterinary practice for many years and observing how general pet health was declining as conventional medicine became more aggressive, he began to explore alternative forms of medicine and take advanced courses in veterinary homepathy. Dr. Dupree is certified by the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy and is active in teaching, writing and speaking. He is on the faculty for the development of the Veterinary Homeopathy Program at the American Medical College of Homeopathy in Phoenix. Murphy I had the good fortune of participating in three webinars that Dr. Dupree taught before he passed away this winter. His book does not disappoint. It is told in the same down home yet brilliant style which Dr. Dupree used in his webinars. He teaches us to clean up the environment, understand the whole animal as an individual and part of the herd, and prescribe homeopathic remedies according to our observations of changes, not according to any set schedule. This book is bound to become a classic. Read for any animal owner who wants to help the animal holistically.

As a milk cow owner and my need to help her recover from injury or whatever she came up with, I am thankful for the homeopathics which are cheaply gotten and work! They saved my need for a back hoe. Now I have a book I can refer to for quicker diagnosis.
