They flank whenever there’s a garage sale for a reason that they can find quality stuff with cheaper prices. Some get lucky and find collector’s item, designer clothes or unique stuff that you don’t usually see in other stores. This is the main reason why it is also very practical to buy from these stores and then sell them at fair prices. I am kind of familiar how it works since I have a friend owning one somewhere in California and her thrift shop business is really working well for her. When I read this book, I had this feeling that what I have learned here would benefit my friend a lot. Putting her thrift shop items online would surely boost her sales. I am glad I found a perfect gift for her. Good read and very informative.

The opposite of Shaw's My Fair Lady By Dr Jacques COULARDEAU That's the first of the two Lulu plays that are the models and sort of libretto of Alban Berg's eponymous opera, Lulu. This first play only follows Lulu through her social ascent up to the death of her third husband, Dr Schön Sr. She was picked up from the street at the age of twelve by that Dr Schön Sr., raised and educated into being a lady. But you cannot negate your original nature, Wedekind tells us on the model of Emile Zola's naturalism, and as opposed to Bernard Shaw's My Fair Lady. Lulu is married by her benefactor, first to an older man, Dr Goll, who dies of a heart attack when he discovers she is having an affair with the painter who is painting her portrait. Then Dr Schön Sr. marries her to the painter who makes a brilliant career thanks to the help of Dr Schön Sr. as a press editor in chief. But this painter commits suicide when Dr Schön Sr. tells him who she really is in order to make him look after his wife more closely. Then she starts a dancing career with Alva Schön in his theater. She is brilliant till the night when Doctor Schön Sr. comes to the show with his fiancée. She then faints on stage and afterwards forces Dr Schön Sr. to write a breaking up letter to his fiancée and he will eventually marry her. Then Lulu goes on having intrigues more than affairs with men, all kinds of men, Alva of course, but also anyone young or old popping up. Is she a whore as she is accused of being, or just a woman who likes to be courted and wooed? From what we see we may think she is the second, though she encourages Alva's cooing and wooing, while her husband, his father, can see the scene. The father, her husband, comes with a gun and tries to force her to kill herself. She finally shoots him in the back with five bullets. And the end comes with the police ringing at the door. Her tragic fate is the consequence of a belief there is no possible change in someone's nature, hence Lulu was born in the gutter in the street and she will have to cause death and create drama, inflict devastation on the world around her. But each victim of her charm will go up in the seriousness of their violent ends: a heart attack, hence a death that is natural; a suicide, hence a death brought up by the victim himself; and finally a murder in self defense but entirely caused by an aggression she had caused herself. She is, at the end, a plain murderess even if in self defense attire. One of these specialty fields is legal photography.Legal photography involves working closely with lawyers in law firms to provide photographic or video documentation relevant to their civil, not criminal, cases. It can involve a range of other photographic specialties from macro photography to architectural photography. No matter what is involved in a legal photography assignment, it is generally interesting and presents a new, unique set of problems to solve. Legal photography is far more technical than creative, but it is also in demand and is financially rewarding.Civil cases brought to arbitration or jury trial range from simple to complex. Common to all cases is the need to present evidence in a fair and accurate manner. In this book, readers will learn how to take responsibility for ensuring that the images captured and delivered for presentation are a “fair and accurate representation” of the observed scene. That responsibility begins with the choice and use of the proper equipment (e.g., camera type, sensor size, capture mode, the correct focal-length lens for the job), through the techniques used during image capture (exposure, lighting, camera angle, camera-to-subject distance, white balance, etc.), to the processing of the captures for output. Sholik also points out that documentation is required for each step to ensure all parties that the representation is indeed fair and accurate—and the details of how this can be accomplished are outlined in this book as well.Also covered is information about how to proceed should you be asked to give testimony as to the accuracy of your work and information about the requirements to be deemed an “expert witness.” For most photographers, doing assignments in the field of legal photography is the easy part. Getting the assignments can be more of a challenge, so the process of marketing yourself as a legal photographer is covered.

About the Author Stan Sholik: Stan Sholik has spent over three decades as a commercial, advertising and illustrative photographer in Orange County, CA. During that time he has developed a national reputation in a wide range of technology-oriented specialties for his clients in the computer, electronics, medical device and food industries.Early in his career he began specializing in closeup/macro photography, motion-simulation and in-camera photocomposition to enhance the images created with his large-format cameras. The acquisition of a high-end computer workstation in 1993 enhanced his capabilities in all of these areas, allowing him to create images that could not be created cost-effectively with the camera alone. He is now working extensively with both 4x5 film and a high-resolution digital capture back for his large-format images and lower-resolution digital cameras for other applications.He has also gained a reputation as a writer on both conventional and digital imaging topics with articles in View Camera, Shutterbug, Professional Photographer, After Capture, Rangefinder and other magazines. That is a separate area. It is about just what the title says- legal photography which is significantly different. It was an interesting read since it is an area of photography I know little about. It is highly detailed work because of where the images are used. If you are exploring trying to find your niche you may want to give this a read and see if legal photography might be right for you.I received this book in order to review.

Bit of a disappointment By Imho The latest Amanda Quick (JAK) is a Victorian murder mystery without the physic element of the recent previous titles. I did miss that aspect at first, but the story seemed as if it would hold up without it. For the most part it does but bogs down in the middle and soon becomes repetitious, even tedious. I love all of JAK's books, under any name, but this one is stale and predictable. Anyone who is a JAK regular will have this figured out long before the end. Sure there are twists and turns but very easily followed as there are not enough characters to provide an alternate ending, nor any red herrings to lead the reader astray. Also, the hero makes one huge leap in logic to figure things out that really comes out of nowhere, a sloppy mistake JAK does not normally make. I gave it three stars as it is still worth reading especially if you are new to Krentz's books.

Nice Read But Ultimately Not Particularly Memorable By Sheila M OTHERWISE ENGAGED is the story of Amity Dorcaster who meets Benedict Stanbridge when she encounters him as he has been shot and left for dead. She saves his life and the town get know one another while traveling on a ship to New York. When they part, Benedict promises to see her in London. Weeks later, Amity is in London and barely escapes from The Bridegroom, a serial killer who kills scandalous women. When Benedict arrives in London, he is determined to help save Amity from the killer.I really, really liked the beginning of this book. It was unique and Amity is such a strong heroine. Her fan that plays such an important part of the book is unique and the scene where Amity uses it to escape from the killer was dramatic and tension filled. I thought the beginning was so good but to me the remainder of the book just didn't fulfill that promise.I really wanted to love this book but in the end could only like it. I didn't feel any particular interest in the romance as we see it between the main characters. I wish we had seen more of their earlier time together because it seemed like the true romance story happens then. Once they are in London the two already have a connection and I felt somewhat cheated.Also, there really wasn't much tension in the mystery since the revelation is not one that the reader can figure out from reading the story but is just revealed as a complete unknown. The additional villains are easily figured out since there are few characters that could be the villain.It may seem like I didn't like the book, but I generally did. It had many of the hallmarks of the author's books that I like but it didn't have that extra that makes it a must read. I really enjoy Jayne Ann Krentz in all her pseudonyms and I have come to expect more. This is a nice book that I liked but is not one that I will turn back to and read again and again.

28 of 30 people found the following review helpful. Let down... By soar1024 I have been a pretty avid reader of AQ/JAK/JC. I get them as soon as I can after they are released and enjoy them immensely but this one just didn't cut it, for me. I found it kind of flat. The mystery to be solved flowed pretty well but the romance seemed to me choppy -- just stuck into the storyline, kind of contrived. Anyway, I was looking forward to it and then, well, I felt disappointed. I loved her stories with characters with paranormal powers. I found those intriguing and fun but this one, for me, was really ho hum. Sorry to be such a downer. I hope this review helps someone. I recommend getting this from the library instead of buying it but that's just me giving advice based on my opinion of this book.
