By Dhananjaya Parkhe I am a fan of Jessica Hagy's Venn like Diagrams and narrations from the time I read her articles with graphics on Forbes online. I bought few of her items on the web like the pads etc. So it enthused me when I saw my Favorite Strategy Writer Sun Tzu's book name in the pre-publication promo email and pre-ordered the book for the first time.I am a bit disappointed frankly. Using an expression by a Marketing Professor - "Give people what they want, Make Money, Repeat the Formula" is described as one of his favorite strategies. This book does the same - More and even more of the same. Same graphics, same quotes - used in a different context i.e. Sun Tzu's famous Art of War did not impress me one bit as I have perhaps read and stored all the quote graphics of the Author from the past articles as a true fan ! No, Repetition did not impress me one bit. The paperback arrived bit earlier than promised and the poor quality of the paper and printing also disappointed me.However, I would still rate my favorite author with 3 Stars/ good rating as her communication style thru Venn Like diagrams is Unique and is her USP ! The Book, the Price, The delivery, The hype and promos about pre-ordering - most disappointing. Author Great but I seem to have read many quotes/ graphics/ visuals before - so disappointed to see not much new in this book. Sorry Jessica Hagy. I am a wannabe Art critic but as a fan - I can not lie here. :(

20 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Shaming Sun Tzu in 241 pages By bkgupta The Art of War Visualized by Jessica Hagy adds a new element to the classic Sun Tzu tale. I was excited to purchase the book and see how Sun Tzu's tactics and strategies permeated the modern business situations. The problem with deals with her lack of understanding of his concepts. On page 18, she takes a quote describing how a general must find the right balance between taking too few calculations and too many calculations before going into battle. She extrapolates this graph into a simple linear regression with "Success" on the y-axis and "Preparations" on the x-axis. The line labeled "Victory" goes between the two with a slope of 1. This does not make sense. Success with the least amount of preparation is the best type of victory. Hagy's lack of basic understanding of Sun Tzu's relatively simple style makes her visualizations utterly useless.To a further accord, the book should be titled The Art of War: Venn Diagram edition. 140 out of 241 pages feature venn diagrams, the most elementary of all graphs.Buy this book as a gift for your middle-management friends. It will look great on their coffee table

Larkin The Sun Tzu stuff is great and on first opening the book, the idea of combining it with art sounds great. So I was pretty excited to start reading it. But then after a few pages, it starts to dawn on you that the drawings are not representative of the Sun Tzu passage they appear with. In fact to my mind, many of them are actually quite antithetical. Further, the drawings are highly repetitive, overly simple, and seem like very low energy, low output. It gives me the impression that Ms Hagy got excited about the idea, got a book deal, and then didn't really find the inspiration or dedication to do the concept justice. Maybe that wasn't how the publication actually came to be but that is certainly the impression the book gives me - Absurdly Low Value.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Just love the Love Brothers, a great addition to a wonderful series By Cyn I had mixed feelings as I read through this book. I said from the start that Dominic was going to be my favorite brother, BUT as I read along I fell in love with the vet, he stole my heart and I didn’t like Dominic too much. He might be a bad boy and I do love my bad boys so much but I didn’t like him at all. I loved him in the other two books but in this one I didn’t. With that said I have to admit about half way through the book he became my hero and I fell for him all over again. It is easy to see how Diana fell so hard for him and could never turn him down or walk away. That man is one heartbreak walking, he knows how to break’em and tear them down, he is a walking disaster. He can destroy just about anything, but the one thing he won’t be able to destroy is the love of his family and the women he loves. They have some trying times, they might walk away from each other but when it really counts they are one.I would have to say out of all the love brothers this is my favorite story. There is so much pain, love and heartbreak that it leaves you saying WOW. You think you have got to be kidding! Just when you think it cannot get any worse the author shows you it can. Just when you think it can’t get any better the author shows you how her great mind works and pulls you in so you want so much to be a part of this family at the same time you are so thankful you are not.I could have been happy with the whole gay scene but the author had a wild story to tell that has many twist and turns. This is so close to real life you say OH MY, as you say poor Diana. Will these two ever make it work? Then we find they move on, life hurts and we grow. Let’s just say the author will take you on many paths before she let you find the true road. Dominic has many lessons to learn, he must learn them over and over again. He has to fall on his face many times until he gets to where he needs to be.There are so many wonderful characters in this book. Lee you are going to fall in love with as he breaks your heart. Life takes many turns and many life’s will be lost as this family fines its way to become one. I felt so bad for Lee and Diana. Lee you will always have my heart, he was truly a wonderful character. You will have as many tears as you will laughs as the family brings you to your knees. You are going to shake your head as you say a few curse words as the author tells the Love Brothers story. At one point I thought nothing good is going to come out of this book, Liz pulled me in and I thought ok that is the way you are going to go, this can work. Then I am dang if she didn’t change the route and again I though nothing good will come of this. This is the way the book went all the way through, until the whole dang thing fell apart and we take a different path where we find the best part of the story waiting for us.Liz you pulled it off to make this the best read to date. I totally loved this love brother who had such a hard time fitting in and his lady Diana who stood by his side even from afar at times through it all. I so enjoy watching Dominic grow as a man and a father to become the best of them all. If you haven’t pick up any of the Love Brother Series you do not know what you are missing. Just do not expect to find your normal read, Liz isn’t interested in the HEA but in the WHA as she takes you on the ride of your life through broken homes, people who are and live like us. Her stories are ones that will stick with you way after you start your next read.

By Jessica from Maine Book Momma I spent the last week getting to know the Love Family by devouring all four books in this series. They're little brash and rough around the edges but they are a cohesive unit that demands your attention. With Liz Crowe's latest addition to this series, Love Brewing, we finally get to find out what makes Dominic so angry and removed from the rest of the family. This boy has got some secretsI thought Love Brewing was emotionally complicated. The author does not the use the typical romance book plot formula. Diana and Dominic spend years circling around one another. Loving and hurting each other in ways that made my heart ache. It's an great story and I had a hard time putting it down to deal with my daily responsibilities. You're waiting and anticipating their happily ever after but you honestly just don't know if they're ever going to find itI truly enjoyed this book and I think of all the brothers, I like Dominic the best. I wasn't sure if I wanted to give him a hug and try to comfort him or if I wanted to rip off all his clothes and discover more about his piercings and tattoos. He's charming and seductive but he is also a bit of a rascal. I didn't blame Diana for being in love with him for the majority of her life - Dominic tugs at your heart strings as well as your panties.Liz Crowe's books always feel like you're getting a glimpse into someone's private family moments. Her characters and their world feel real - it's easy to connect. I would definitely recommend you check out her Love Brothers Series - it is a great read.

By Karen Arrowood In this third book in the Love Family saga, we get to hear Dominic’s story….As usual, Liz Crowe has written an emotionally complicted story, with characters who are full of passion and heartaches, and who face difficult real-life issues.Have you ever known someone who, no matter how hard they tried, just couldn’t get it right, or catch a break? Yeah, that is Dominic Love.Dominic, ah Dominic – my favorite Love brother! He is so complex and has had so many issues to deal with in his life, it’s a wonder he made it at all. Dom was diagnosed with mental issues in high school; he had to deal with that plus his bisexuality without familial support except for his mother. Throw in Diana, his off and on girlfriend who loves him completely, the out-of wedlock child with his ex that he hasn’t ever seen, and Kent – the true love of his life – leaving him,,,,, well, it’s no wonder Dom couldn’t cope.Dom is a long-haired, tattooed, hard-drinking, womanizing bad boy… and you can’t help but adore him, and hope he’ll make it in the end. I urge you to see this story through to the compelling end… you won’t be sorry!I was privileged to receive an early reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

Unique is very important to me. Yes, I love billionaire cowboy cops who are in MC clubs on the weekends (you get the picture), but how often am I presented with a wolf shifter who goes to a rock concert simply because his little sister won a contest to kiss the lead singer because their father won't let her go? The concept is great right?Bardulf is the alpha heir to his pack. Ryan is the lead singer of Bad Oak, one of the hottest bands to grace the stage. They're both VERY strong men, but there is an undeniable chemistry between them as soon as they meet. I don't want to give any major plot points away here, but suffice to say, their relationship begins with a spark and continues until it's an inferno. Things aren't easy for our heroes, but they make it right, even in times of intense chaos. In "Rock Star Baby", we get two big, handsome guys, hot sex, a great plot that has a nice bit of mystery to it, and some masculine (but sweet) romance. We also get an unexpected twist that will make you smile a mile wide even as you let out a gasp.As you can see, I really enjoyed this book. I'm excited that it is going to be a series because the other characters are interesting, funny, and charming. I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms. Leaf comes up with next.

I wish the author would have not skipped most of the pregnancy but still thought it was nicely done. I took one star off because some of the story involving the wolves seemed rushed but I really liked Ryan's band family. Would buy the sequel. The men still acted liked men, which is well done for a mpeg story.

Slightly different from other shifter books.Bardulf's sister persuaded him to go and meet the rock star she was supposed to get a kiss from as the winner of a competition. Ryan is a megastar, leader of a band consisting of his brother and two cousins. Technically he has always known that he was not straight as an arrow, but he has never expected to react in way he did when he met Bardulf. Among other things he discovers is a hidden secret in his lineage (no spoilers from me). And that another man can become more important to him than any other being. Well, until their son arrives.Barulf has obviously a calming personality, but he has several battles to fight. The increasing health problems of his father, conniving neighbours, and the mating pull so strong that it almost breaks him. But fortunately there is always a door nearby when he is in the vicinity of Ryan (wink).Half star off, because of some objections - mostly wrong names during the story.My first with this writer, that I am aware of anyway, and I intend to read the next story.

About the Author Enoch Arnold Bennett, the son of a solicitor, was born in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1867. He was educated locally and at London University, before working initially as a solicitor's clerk, but soon turned to writing popular serial fiction and editing a women's magazine. After the publication of his first novel, 'A Man from the North' in 1898 he became a professional writer and some of his best and most enduring and acclaimed work, including 'Anna of the Five Towns', 'The Old Wives' Tale', 'Clayhanger', 'The Card' and 'Hilda Lessways' followed over the next twelve years. Soon after the outbreak of the First World War, Bennett was invited to join the War Propaganda Bureau, concerned with finding ways of best promoting Britain's interests. He was in good company, as others who contributed to this effort included Conan Doyle, John Masefield, G. K. Chesterton, Sir Henry Newbolt, John Galsworthy, Thomas Hardy, Rudyard Kipling, Gilbert Parker, G. M. Trevelyan and H. G. Wells. Bernard Shaw knew nothing of the Bureau, but attacked what he believed to be jingoistic articles and poems being produced by British writers. Bennett was the one chosen to defend their actions. He served on a War Memorial Committee at the invitation of the then Minister of Information, Lord Beaverbrook, and was also appointed director of British propaganda in France. His spells in Paris added to his reputation as a man of cosmopolitan and discerning tastes. After the War he inevitably returned to writing novels and also became a director of the 'New Statesman'. 'Anna of the Five Towns' and 'The Old Wives' Tale' show the influence of Flaubert, Maupassant and Balzac as Bennett describes provincial life in great detail. Arnold Bennett is an important link between the English novel and European realism. He wrote several plays and lighter works such as 'The Grand Babylon Hotel' and 'The Card'. Arnold Bennett died in 1931.

The first part of the book was very good and I agree with the previous reviewer, that the best part was the author's descirptions of the music. I gave this book 3 stars because it was free. If I had spent money, it would have been much lower. The ending of the book is the worst- so bad that I felt like I had wasted my time reading the book.

The descriptions are vivid throughout the story, descriptions of the scenery and emotions, not just the music at the beginning. I loved the twist in the story, once you think you know what is going to happen it changes. The ending is what it is. I would definitely recommend this book to others. To address other reviews, the ending it not 'they lived happily-every-after.' But though the whole book you know it's not going to be a fairytale happy ending. For me, the ending fit well with the book and I was satisfied with the read.The Kindle EBook I downloaded (now unavailable) had a problem with skipping back to the beginning. I got through Part 2, Chapter 3 and was sent back to the beginning of the book like it was completely read. This also happened in Part 3, I think chapter 2 or 3. Maybe that is what another reviewer means by "the author got tired of writing and ended the book."

I have not noticed any significant updates from the third edition. For example, IBD is not updated with biologic treatment options. The book adds a 100 new multiple choice questions, but that is all I have noticed so far.The book claims a student committee and provided feedback to improve the 4th edition, but it does not provide any specifics. It might be worth it to hold onto third edition. I will update the review as I see changes.As far as physical quality, pages feel cheaper than third edition.update 11/26/15I have now read about half the book and there are a few updated I have noticed.1) They added a few lines about the new oral anticoagulants (i.e. apixaban)2) BP guidelines have been updated with JNC 8other mistakes have not been fixed like pneumonia severity indexI am updating my review from 3 to 4/5

Serving as a pretty good complement to the Kaplan review series for me. So far, haven't found any errors with up to date guidelines for diagnosis or therapy. Will update after completing the book. It probably goes without saying, but if you can't tolerate bullet point style text then this isn't for you.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Excellent supplement during a medical clerkship By Hard worker This is one of the best review books I have read. Is it a little big? Sure, it's not the smallest review book but medicine is a very broad subject! This book does a great job in capturing the key aspects of the most important pathologies. In the past while reading review books for preclinical exams, I sometimes found material to be lacking in unexpected areas. If I'm following a patient with heart failure, this book discussed the most important aspects of heart failure. This is simply a review book and thus no matter how great it is, the material in this book cannot be used as a primary source and should be supplemented with something else like uptodate or Harrison's imo. For example, the book will discuss the beneficial use of some antibiotics like azithromycin in certain pulmonary patients, but doesn't discuss the anti-inflammatory role of macrolides like azithro. Despite this I really enjoy reading this edition of step up. I have found only a few mistakes in the book, but nothing content related. Fossli This is a must-have book if you are starting up with Swift programming. I've been programming Objective-C for 2 years and this book is very handy too look up everything when it comes to Swift. Good examples and very clean layout. Easy to read.So, if you plan to start programming Swift this book will really help you out on the way. By Mazen Kasser Usually I love the books of Wei-Meng Lee, as it teaches by examples... but not this one, as it is just introduction to basic concepts which I already know. So I think this book is for someone who is new to Object Oriented programming (OOP) in general.

By Dude Very, very low level book, great if you just got your first computer and are learning to develop with no past experience.Frankly, you can get the same information from a few basic searches and spending some time on the web. Same information is on YouTube for free. Description states "Discover, master, and build with Swift,...", book will not help you 'master' the language, just get you started.Again, if you have no development experience this is a good place to start and don't mind spending the money. However, I think there are other books viable for a better value. I have been using Wrox for years, and just expected more from them.

Since Fury, I've followed her and worshipped the paper she writes on. :) I've adored every book, however, this one was somewhat disappointing. I DO love that she gave us a "two-for". This is a new concept for her and I very much enjoyed it. The bad is that there was no action! Every other story has followed a sort of formula, new species is rescued, meets human woman, some type of difference/misunderstanding keeps them apart, something crazy happens due to Mercile or bigots, then they work it out and become mates. These books lacked any excitement. They were kind of hum drum and predictable. I must say that the second story (spoiler alert), where a human was released from Mercile instead was an amazing and original idea! I just feel like she could have done so much more with Candi and Hero. Like her dad was actually still alive and wanted her back, she was arrested for the murder and Mercile was behind the arrest, etc, etc. Overall, I did enjoy it and I recommend the New Species series to anyone!!! Happy reading!!

This time we get two for the price of one. Although each story is shorter, they were no less, romantic, erotic and full of loving characters. The stories movie along very fast. Each New Species 140 now named Mourn and 927 named Hero who we meet in previous books find there own love, happiness and redemption.140/Mourn is still on a self destructive path after losing his mate 139 after they had been rescued by the NSO. He wants to die too. His life seems useless and meaningless. Dana is visiting her brother Paul at Homeland. They both are humans She is a widow who lost her husband tommy to cancer two years prior. She witnesses the self destructive behavior of 140 and is determine to help him. This story touched my heart as I am a widow and I know how hard it is to get over the lost of a husband. So if I had too pick a favorite it would be 140/Mourn and Dana's story.927/Hero is also, from a previous New Species story Valiant and Tammy's story. I often wonder what became of 927 and hoped he would find a mate. Well he had a human mate that was raised as a New Species. That was a real twist in the storyline. Candice know as H-01 witness her father a Mercile doctor murder her mother. At only 5 years old she was place in a cell with a NS Pup 140. after being raised and living with 140 for 11 yrs. her father had them separated. I had hoped that Candi as Hero calls her would have been had someone to protect her from sexual abuse like 927 had protected Tammy, but no go. To protect 927 the love of Candi's life she would do anything. It was sad as it seems New Species never get a break!!Both stories had me crying. But love always conquers. Mourn and Dana and Hero and Candi are very well written characters. There is good back stories for both characters/ There stories while different were very engaging, sad, a little funny at times and very erotic and romantic. I loved re visiting some of the old characters in the New Species series. Each story felt like a well thought out and developed storyline and not a short story.I Highly Recommend Numbers and the entire New Species series. It might be best to read prior books before reading this one to make 140 and 927's stories richer with deeper understanding of these characters.

Disappointingly flat stories - First one Okay; Second one Irritating - couldn't skim it fast enough trying to find the plot By Erma The first of these two short stories - 140 - was a nice read not on par with her other novels. The second one - 927 - was a huge disappointment. So much potential with the characters and their story - so much lost opportunity with the other Species from her past. The story lacks a plot, the intensity, the suspenseful mystery & action of the earlier novels. Instead its a cookie-cutter psuedo love story with a lot of angst that depends on the back story. I disliked her name from the start [Candi: as in "Candy with an 'i'"] & loathed her pet name for him. In earlier New Species novels, when the male spoke of his mate using 'my Tammy' - it was a believable & touching - in this story - it sounded stupider & stupider - maybe because the male actually called her that rather than referenced her to someone else. I kept waiting for the real story to begin - this is a standard cardboard young romance story with a lot of sex scenes.Neither of these stories moved the New Species story-line ahead. Instead - by bringing Species childhood into the story through flashbacks - we are asked to suspend more than the traditional amount of belief & accept that hundreds of severely abused, isolated & tortured children can develop through decades of horrific abuse into warm, loving adults with a strong sense of honor, comradery and work ethic. Prior to this story - I tried hard not to consider that aspect of the New Species history because I like behaviors to make sense. I enjoyed the fascinating world Ms Dohner created. With this pair of stories - I feel let down.

Ace the FTCE By Sandra E The FTCE General knowledge test preparatory study guide book with practice test questions is filled with information and advice on every aspect of taking the test. It has a quick overview of the test, helpful test taking strategies, a section on Essays and Reading, English Language Skills, Mathematics, and the practice test questions in all three areas, as well as the answer section in the back with very in depth explanations of each question in every section. I find this book a very useful tool in the art of preparation of testing and I feel like you will too. I highly recommend this product as it is a very high quality, well written guide. Although I received this product at a substantial discount I absolutely would pay the full amount for this product.

I used regular shipping and got it in two days! It was brand new, but not what I was looking for in a test prep book. This book really didn't help me much. I passed the math only thre first time and this book seemed to focus more on math. For the other subjects its main focus was more on test tips and strategies where I was looking more for example questions.
